What are the different kinds of HOT cranes?

HOT cranes stands for Hand Operated Travelling cranes. These are types of overhead cranes that are commonly used in industrial settings to move goods. Overhead HOT cranes are lifting devices that are used to move the load from one side to another. HOT crane, or any other crane for that matter, is suited for both indoor and outdoor requirements. Hoist HOT cranes are not too tough to maintain either.

Let us see the different types of HOT cranes available

Bridge Cranes

These are the most commonly used type of HOT cranes. Two parallel runways are fixed onto the structure of your building with a travelling bridge covering the gap. There are two configurations available in these cranes: single girder and double girder. The strength of both single and double girder is roughly the same, but you can lift goods higher with a double girder. A single girder is easier to install and costs cheaper as well. HOT crane manufacturers can make adjustments to the size of the crane cater to your needs.

Gantry Crane

In the case of gantry cranes, the girder is supported by freestanding legs as opposed to being fixed onto the structure of the building like bridge cranes. The legs of the crane can be nailed into the surface or fitted underground. These type of cranes are ideal for outdoors as there is no need to look for place to fix the crane onto the structure. They also come in single-girder and double-girder configurations. Crane manufacturers like Venus Engineers have a complete range of cranes that are essential to move and lift heavy goods.

Monorail Cranes

A monorail does not have a girder, but instead it has a trolley connected to an I-beam that moves the hoist. These cranes are mostly used to move the load in a restricted area. A monorail generally allows only for straight line movement, but they can be customised. This is a cheaper option than installing bridge or gantry cranes. HOT cranes suppliers can help you in creating a monorail crane that improves your productivity.

Jib Cranes

Jib cranes consists of pillars that is mounted on the floor or fixed on the wall. The crane has horizontal a working arm called the jib, which is attached to a movable hoist. A job crane moves in circular motion and it optimises the floor space owing to a small radius. Even though they do not use up a lot of space, they can still be used to lift loads weighing several tons. Overhead HOT crane manufacturers can also design this leg with self-supporting legs with its own support column.

Workstation Cranes

This lift is ideal for lightweight use and places where there is limited space available. They are best suited for operations that are going to be repeated again and again like moving packaged boxes from one side of the warehouse to another. They can be made both in single-girder and double-girder configurations. They can be freestanding, ceiling-mounted or even monorail systems.

Top-running and under-running cranes

In top-running cranes the bridge runs along the rails on top of the runway beams. These cranes are made for lifting medium to heavy-duty weights. Their capacity can be built to hold capacities from 25kgs to hundreds of tons. They come in both single-girder and double-girder configurations.

An under-running bridge is supported by the bottom flange of the beam. These lifts are mostly made to lift lower-capacity loads, hence are most commonly available in single-girder configuration. An under-running lift can also be made with freestanding legs if the structure of the warehouse does not support wall-mounted columns.
