The electric hoist is
generally installed on the crane. It is a kind of special lifting equipment
that improves work efficiency and working conditions. The composition of
electric hoist is mainly divided into motors, electrical appliances, reducers,
control boxes, wire ropes, cone motors, buttons to change. So there are several
types of electric hoists? How to choose electric hoists from Electric Wire Rope Hoist Manufacturers?
Read all below.
What is an electric hoist?
Electric hoist is a kind of
special lifting equipment, called an electric hoist. It is installed on
suspended I-beams, curved rails, cantilever lifting guide rails and fixed
lifting points. It mainly carries out heavy lifting, loading and unloading,
equipment maintenance and cargo lifting, etc. The work happens to be a crucial
mechanical equipment for infrastructure developments like highway,
construction, metallurgy and mining.
Wire rope hoist
In general, a wire rope hoist
can lift much heavier loads than a chain hoist more accurately. Wire rope is
made up of many strands of individual metal wires twisted together to form a
strong cable, making it exceptionally strong and durable. The downside is that
wire rope hoist systems can be more complex than a chain hoist, resulting in
slightly higher maintenance and repair costs.
According to Wire Rope Hoists Manufacturers,
in different working conditions, you can choose the appropriate electric hoist.
This article briefly introduces the differences between wire rope hoists and electric chain hoists for reference.
Size:
When comparing hoists of the
same tonnage, electric chain hoists are generally smaller than wire rope
hoists. This is because their structures are different.
Electric chain hoists are
driven by chains, and the chain bin is separated from the hoist, which solves
the problem of the cable hoist drum being too large. Therefore, electric chain
hoists are generally smaller than wire rope hoists. As the lifting height
increases, the size difference becomes greater, as the wire rope is wrapped around
the drum, which has a greater impact on the overall size.
Lifting height:
For cable hoists, wrapping the
cable around the drum causes elastic deformation. The side of the drum is too
tight, while the corresponding surface is tight. The smaller the diameter of
the drum, the greater the deformation of the wire rope and the greater the
pressure and tension on the corresponding surface. To ensure that these forces
do not exceed the carrying capacity of the wire rope, the diameter of the wire
rope hoist drum should be larger, so that the distortion of the wire rope is
not extreme.
Design specifications require
that the drum diameter of electric hoists be at least 20 times larger than the
diameter of the wire rope. Alternatively, the links in a Venus Engineers electric chain hoist
happens to be connected by hinges and the key force it bears is tension.
Electric chain hoists have sprockets with 5 or 6 grooves generally to decrease
the compressive conflict between the links and the contact surface between the
sprocket and the links and sometimes 4 grooves for higher loads and lifting
speeds. For these reasons, the pulley on the drum and hook of the Electric Wire Rope Hoist is much larger
than the sprocket on the same size electric chain hoist. Therefore, the hook spacing
of the electric chain hoist is smaller than that of the same specification wire
rope hoist.
Last words
In other words, on a track of
the same height, a Venus Engineers electric chain hoist can achieve a higher
lifting height than a wire rope hoist.
