What Is EOT Crane? How Is It Used?

EOT crane or also called as Electric Overhead Traveling crane is widely used overhead crane or bridge crane which has parallel runways along with a traveling bridge which helps in spanning the gap between the runways. EOT cranes are generally used in the workshops, warehouses and stock ground of mining enterprises for loading , unloading, relocating heavy loads and also used in building submersible. Mostly, EOT cranes are used in factories. Gantry crane or a Goliath crane is also an overhead crane in which the bridge is robustly supported on two or more legs running on a fixed rail at ground level.

Also, EOT cranes are of varied types namely single girder EOT cranes which have only one girder ( girder is a support beam used in construction ) and double girder EOT cranes which have two girders. Grab Bucket EOT cranes, Magnet type EOT cranes, Under Slung EOT cranes are also types of EOT cranes used in the factories and for construction works.

Moreover, EOT cranes are
•easy to install
•have low weight,
•compactly build
•easy to operate
•easy to maintain
•possessed with higher efficiency to save power

EOT cranes have wide range of applications and uses. These cranes are mostly used in refining process of metals mainly of steel, and but also used in refinement of other metals as well such as copper and aluminum. Automobile industries use overhead cranes basically to handle raw materials. Gantry cranes which are smaller workstation cranes used to handle lighter loads into a workplace such as CNC mill. As it is justified by name these electric overhead cranes are electrically operated by an operator cabin attached to the crane or by a control pendant.
